MnK Niseko featured in Japan Times article on Japan’s evolving property and hospitality sectors

The Japan Times recently published a special feature in partnership with the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards that explores current trends shaping Japan’s real estate, hospitality, and development industries. The article was published in The Japan Times and on Bridges, PropertyGuru’s international business and lifestyle platform.

The feature brings together perspectives from developers, architects, hospitality leaders, and real estate professionals from across Japan, examining topics ranging from tourism-driven growth and regional investment concerning sustainability, design, and the future of development in Japan.

Among the contributors featured was Eddie Guillemette, CEO of MnK Niseko and Chairperson of the Independent Judging Panel for the 2025 PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Japan). Eddie delivered insights into the current state of Niseko’s resort property market and the changing profile of buyers entering the sector.

“Overall, demand remains strong for well-priced properties,” Eddie said in the article, noting that increasing construction costs, tougher regulations, and infrastructure considerations are leading more buyers to consider existing properties alongside new developments.

The article also highlighted how Japan’s property and hospitality industries are increasingly emphasizing long-term usability, local identity, and experience-driven design, particularly in regional destinations such as Niseko and the wider Hokkaido region.

As MnK Niseko marks 10 years of its real estate business, the feature reflects many of the continuing discussions molding the region’s future growth and development.
